For those who have spent any significant number of times on the roadways around here, you know that it can get very congested suddenly, especially in bad weather. In fact, you may have exclaimed to yourself that we must have the worst drivers in Reston, Virginia. But, does Virginia have the worst drivers?
Virginia drivers
No. In fact, we have some of the safest drivers in the United States at 40, according to data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Association. That means we are one of the top 10 safest places to drive. Surprised? We were as well, but not so much by our biggest issue: speeding.
The worst drivers
Another surprise comes in for the worst drivers: Texas and New Mexico. Both states bill themselves as welcoming and offering southern hospitality, but that, apparently, does not extend to their roadways. As both states were by far the deadliest for pedestrian and bicyclists. And, Texas has a drunk driving problem with nearly 80% of fatal accidents involving an impaired driver.
Safer does not mean safe
Unfortunately, just because we have safer roads in Fairfax, Virginia, does not mean that we have safe roads. Driving is still dangerous, and you could be involved in a motor vehicle accident any time you hit the roads. These car crashes can have devastating, even deadly consequences that impact families for their entire lives.
Luckily, you can get civil justice through a Loudoun, Virginia, personal injury lawsuit. It cannot undo the crash, but it can, at least, get you a sense of justice and compensation for your damages and pain and suffering.
